How far in advance do I need to book?
For portrait sessions, I suggest 3-4 months in advance depending on time of year.
The fall is always the busiest. I take a limited amount of weddings per year. Your best bet it to talk to me at least one year before your wedding date.
Are we a good fit?
Are you chill and laid back? Are you interested in showcasing the connection over the perfection with your people in photos?
Yes? I think we’ll be good.
I believe it is so important that we mesh well. Your photos will show it if you’re uncomfortable. I CAN help pose you and give you direction as needed but I CAN’T force connection especially if you don’t feel at ease with me.

What should I wear?
Good question. It comes down to what you’re most comfortable in my friend.
If you’re a t-shirt and jeans kind of person, maybe don’t wear a ballgown. If you love to dress up, do it! Stay true to yourself and your style.
I caution against wearing any clothing with large noticeable wording on it (brand names, sayings, etc) or bright florescent clothing.
I find with my style of photography, neutrals or more subdued colours look best. My favourite is when your outfits compliment each other but aren’t perfectly matchy-matchy.
Once you book your portrait session, I’ll follow up with a huge guide helping you decide what to wear for your photos!
How do we pick a location?
Location choices are a collaborative effort.
First I want to know what you want your photos to look and feel like. Are you looking for nature with lots of green, something close to the water, something cozy and indoors, or something with a more urban downtown feel?
Based on that, I have a pile of my favourite locations we an choose from and work together to find something that feels perfect for you. Do you have a specific place in mind that means something to you or you walked by and thought would be a gorgeous spot for photos? Let’s talk about it!
The biggest thing I look for when choosing a location is how the light looks at the time we will be taking your photos. A big open field in the middle of the day isn’t going to do your photos any favours so we might have better luck in a different spot.
Can you photoshop that?
I mean, I probably can, but here’s the thing - that photoshopped version of you ISN’T YOU.
I will happily photoshop those pesky little temporary things that tend to pop up before photoshoots (blemishes, bruises, scrapes, etc) and I’ll change things that makeup could do. That includes things like a little bit of skin smoothing and other minor aesthetics.
I want you to know that you are your own worst critic, and that I see so much beauty in you. I want you to look at your photos through the lens that you would hope or expect your child/best friend/sister/mother would view themselves.
What is the difference between a 'lifestyle' and 'documentary' session?
In lifestyle session I provide more guidance. It is meant to showcase your connection with your people and have a candid look to them. I’ll direct and pose you a little bit. I’ll place you in a spot with good background and in the best light when I can.
Lifestyle sessions are typically 1 hour long and take place in a location of your choosing. They are meant to capture who you are as a couple or family in that moment.
Documentary or 'day in the life sessions' are meant to showcase your real true life how you live it everyday. Best suited for families, I’ll be with you during every activity (cooking, laundry, playtime, gardening, outings, bedtime, etc) and document the ups, downs, love, and authentic moments as they play out. I don’t interfere or provide much guidance while I am taking pictures.
Documentary sessions take place in your environment.
I’m NOT here to place judgement, discipline, or interfere with how things are done in your family.
A documentary session can be as short or as long as you like. It captures how it FEELS to be in this season of your life. My hope with these sessions is that you look back at the photos in years to come and remember exactly how it felt to be there in that moment.
Do you do video?
Heck yes I do!
I offer videos for families and couples as an add on to any lifestyle/documentary package.
I don't do wedding video, but I can recommend a really awesome videographer (PM Videography) that I know you'll love at your wedding.
When is the best time of day to do a session?
That hour before sunset is my favourite time for outdoor photos. The light is just unreal!
Newborn sessions are best in the late morning. I find babies are generally more settled in the am hours and the light in homes is optimal.
Where should I print my photos?
Not all photo labs are created equal. I edit all my photos on colour calibrated screens meant to give you the best print possible. Unfortunately, not every lab follows those colour profiles and your prints can sometimes come out looking washed out, too dark, too light, or have odd colours in them.
If you order from me, I print with the pro lab in Edmonton (Technicare Imaging). I can guarantee your prints will look good from them. I promise I won’t charge you an arm and a leg for printing because I believe so strongly in having something tangible to hold in your hands from your session.
I think you should print your photos, they are your legacy.
How do I book?
Simple. Email me and we’ll chat about the details of your photography needs.
Getting married? I’d love to meet you. Let’s go for coffee or have a Skype date.
Once we decide to work together I take a non refundable fee to secure your date. (50% of package price for weddings and $150.00 for portrait sessions).
